We have moved! I can’t recall what I’ve read in the meantime, except that it was all excellent (I think); I will consult Goodreads and return with a report. I am reading an excellent novel now–Elizabeth Gaskell’s Wives and Daughters–which possesses one of my favourite first lines so far encountered: “To begin with the old rigamarole of childhood.” This line hints at the revelation that follows soon after–Gaskell was funny! Mary Barton and North and South did not prepare me for this; I’m in love.
Also, there are cracks in the new drywall on our ceilings; then there is the fact that the new dimmer switches for the dining room and living room heat up alarmingly if we dare to use them. In spite of this unexpected continuance of renovation hell, I still plan never to move ever again.
I have set up a library; it boasts lovely morning light, full and well organized bookcases (Mr. Trollope has an entire shelf to himself), and comfy chairs with pert red cushions. I foresee an acceleration of my reading as winter approaches.
Hooray! You will be settled in before you know and all the little things will be fixed and it will be marvelous!
Still moving at a snail’s pace…but I got two boxes of my husband’s comics sorted today. Although at one point I lost it a little and yelled, “For god’s sake, I can’t find The Justice League!!! I need to eat something!!!” Not my finest moment, perhaps.
Photos, please! At least of the library . . . I’m facing moving myself and need inspiration.
I will post some just as soon as the library’s completely put together. Right now, it is literally covered in piles of comic books…
